This 19th century neo Gothic style church has a very special place in the heart of the locals. It was the only building in town that was not destroyed during WWII when the German troops set the entire town on fire. Discussions where held to rebuild the town of Honningsvag on the mainland. The locals simply refused. They made the church their home until the entire town was restored. From cruise port the church it is about a 900 meter walk to the east.

Cruise ships come and go during the summer time. Generally they sail around the North Cape. It truly is an impressive sight to see this famous cliff from the sea. It usually takes about 4 hours to sail from Honningsvag to the North Cape. Cross your fingers your captain will sail close and hang around there before you make your way to the next port of call. Even if that isnt the case, cruising these waters is always impressive due to the dramatic coastline and barren landscape.
On your way to the North Cape you can visit a Sami camp. The Sami are the indigenous people of Lapland. The Sami still have their tradition way of life here. Don’t expect they walk around like this all day long, but it does make a nice souvenir picture.
