About 150 km / 90 miles from Almeria you will find the world famous Alhambra castle. This masterpiece of Moorish architecture is known as the best historical sight of southern Spain. The Alhambra was build by the Moorish during their occupation of the Iberian peninsula. It would have been their greatest piece of work yet. The castle is known for its beautiful artefacts, calligraphy and gardens. It is said that just the sentence “God is almighty” is displayed on the wall over 1000 times. It might take a little effort to be able to visit the Alhambra from Almeria, but it will be worth it.
