Mt Teide is the highest peak in Spain. It is over 3178 meters high.
The journey up to this national park is quite a curvy one. Taking you from the coastal villages, to the pine woods and up to the volcanic landscapes. There are many photo stops at the national park and each one is different since the landscape is very diverse.
2 essential recommended stops:
– The Pico Viejo; which is where the volcano erupted in 1798. This 800 meter crater is impressive to see, still showcasing the clear markings of its last eruption on the landscape. At this stop there are a couple of information signs and you can also make a leisurly walk through the volcano landscape. Here you can not just see the Pico Viejo, but on a clear day you will also see the other Canary islands of La Palma and La Golmera.
– The visitors center; a great stop for a souvenir and information about this national park. Nearby you will also find some photo stops of the landscape.
Another stop could be the cable car going up to the summit, or rather 200 meters under it. From here you could continue on foot to the top. This is a trip that needs to be prebooked however since you need a ticket for the cable car and a permit to walk to the top. If this is what you would like to do on your visit than please plan ahead.

Visit this incredible volcanic landscape by excursion bus, rental car or taxi. Find the park 40 km west of the cruise port.
