Cruise ships dock at the the cruise terminal called Canada Place. It is a great facility that offers lots of services to cruisers. It is also situated at a central location in the city. The waterfront station is in front of the cruise terminal. This is where you can easily pick up the translink to go to the airport. This is also where you can buy a day pass for public transportation in Vancouver. Buy it for 9,75 Canadian dollar at the machine.

The seawall must be one of the most unique things about Vancouver. It stretches all the way around Vancouver. It’s especially loved by walkers and cyclist who use the sea wall as their usual work out route where they manoeuvre themselves on this counterclockwise parkour.

In Stanley Park you will find Canada’s biggest aquarium. Meet their belugas, penguins, sea otters and 50.000 other aquatic creatures. Find the aquarium within 40 minutes walk from port or take bus 19 to it.

Just a few blocks from the cruise terminal is where you will find the Vancouver art gallery which is considered to be one of the best in the country and it certainly is the biggest. Its historical and contemporary art collection has master pieces from all over the world housed in this 1911 courthouse. See the exact location of the museum in the map above.

In the middle of town you will find the world famous Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Gardens. 53 master craftsmen from China constructed the garden using traditional Chinese methods to construct this garden. You will find over Tai hu rocks, koi fish, penjing (miniature trees) and much more at the gardens. Guided tours and tea are included in the admission.

This 30 ft high sculpture is the Olympic Cauldron. Canada hosted the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Cauldron burned with the Olympic flame and is still being re-lit on special occasions.

This is the tower where you will get a beautiful view over the city of Vancouver. It is a simple 40 second elevator ride to a 553 ft / 168 meter above the ground. For the shopaholics amongst us; there are lots of fun places to shop around at. Find your unique boutiques in Gastown, market at Granville Island and Vancouver’s busiest shopping street would be Robson Shopping District. This has the largest shopping facilities in town and it is only a couple of blocks from the cruise terminal.

If you want to get out of town and spend the day in nature Capilano might just be the thing to do for you. Cross its world famous 450 foot span, race on the new Cliff walk or stroll the rainforest. If you are not the city type and looking for nature and wildlife than Grouse Mountain is a place you could consider going while in port. There are tons of things to do here like guided eco-walks, zip lining, visit the lumberjack show or meet the grizzly bears.
