In 2012 a new elevator opened up, linking the Grand Harbor to the Upper Barrakka Gardens and Valletta city center. When you exit the port, simply take a right, walk down the street until you see the elevator on your left hand side. Get a ticket for the way up for 1 euro at the machine, down is free. It will save you a 58 meter climb up the road to the higher city center. The lift is wheelchair accessible.

On the Calle Guile Sotelo you will find the entrance to the elevator going up to the Alcazaba. Keep in mind the entrance is a bit hidden away and therefore it is quite handy to keep the street name at hand. Catch the elevator for just a couple of euro.

One of Bergen’s main attractions is the Fløibanen funicular. Find the lower station right in the center of town. Buy a ticket and hop on the funicular. It will take you up Mt. Floien where you will have an incredible view over the city of Bergen. It is also a great starting point for a hike. There are several recommended hikes on Mt. Floien. We do highly recommend you to buy your tickets in advance through the Floyen.no website. The queue for the Floibanen can be long, especially during summer time with a lot of ships in port. You can buy your ticket on the website and pass the line when you get there. It is only a 10 to 15 minute walk from the Skjolden en Bonelabo cruise dock.
